City Gate is the main entrance to the capital city of Malta, Valletta. The entrance features a large arch with two gateways, one for pedestrians and one for vehicles. The arch was built in the 1960s to replace the original gate, which was destroyed during World War II.
There is no admission fee to enter City Gate, as it is a public entrance to the city. The gate is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Nearby attractions include the Triton Fountain, which is located just outside of the gate and features three bronze figures representing Malta's major harbors. The Upper Barrakka Gardens are also a short walk away and offer stunning views of the Grand Harbour.
The official website for Valletta tourism is www.cityofvalletta.org.
